ED Advocate, League of Education Voters Newsletter, June 2014

Greetings

Chris Korsmo
Chris Korsmo, CEO

We celebrated a big win this past legislative session with the passage of SB 6552, known as the College and Career Ready Diploma, after eight long years of work. This would not have been possible without the work of the Excellent Schools Now (ESN) Coalition—and many of you.

Now it's time to weigh in on the rules for the College and Career Ready Diploma. The State Board of Education is asking for public comment. We'll tell you how to do that, below.

This month, I am pleased to highlight the work of Linda Lozano, a Yakima advocate for students and families in Washington who recently testified in Olympia at the public hearing on the new discipline law.

Stay tuned for an announcement soon on our PAC's endorsements for the upcoming elections. A big thank-you to our endorsement team, led by LEV's Government Relations Director, Frank Ordway.

As we head into summer, we're taking a break from our monthly newsletter. We'll see you in September.

Thanks for all you do for kids. We couldn't do it without you.
