ED Advocate, League of Education Voters Newsletter, June 2015

Greetings

Chris Korsmo
Chris Korsmo, CEO

One special session has come and gone, and we're counting on our legislators to finalize a budget during this second special session that is supportive of an education continuum—from early learning through higher education.

Looking ahead, the first statewide results from Washington's new Smarter Balanced assessments should be released in mid-August. In anticipation of those results, we are hosting a Lunchtime LEVinar on June 16. Join us to learn more about Smarter Balanced assessments and what to expect later this summer.

I am pleased to announce the release of our 2014 annual report, Finding a way forward. 2014 was a successful year as we worked to improve public education throughout Washington state, and we couldn't have done it without your support.

Thank you, and thanks for all you do for kids.

Thank you to our advocates and activists

Thank youThe work that we do to improve public education is only possible thanks to the support of our activists and advocates—the parents, community members, students, and teachers who stand up and speak up.

Our activists of the month were selected for going above and beyond in their work for Washington students—in organizing, in testimony, in advocacy, and more. Before we break for the summer, we wanted to draw your attention to these activists once more.

We also wanted to take a moment to thank all of our activists around the state. For every activist of the month that we profile, there are dozens of others who have also taken a stand to improve public education in Washington state.
Thank you!
